The Reds could swap winger for striker

Liverpool are weighing up a potential swap deal with Manchester City which could see Raheem Sterling move to the Etihad Stadium, and Edin Dzeko move to Anfield.

The deal would involve City paying some money towards the deal as well due to the difference in value, but it is reportedly an offer that Brendan Rodgers is considering.

Liverpool want Strikers

The Reds are in the market for a new striker this Summer after their failures this season in front of goal. Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert are all expected to be sold at the end of the season, with Divok Origi returning from a season-long loan with French side Lille.

Liverpool will have Origi and Daniel Sturridge as attacking options if they can offload their current strikers, so Rodgers is desperate to bring in at least one more attacking face.

A lot of speculation has linked Liverpool with Alexandre Lacazette from French side Lyon, but according to fresh reports this morning, they could do a deal with City.

The Citizens are expected to lose one of Dzeko or Stevan Jovetic this Summer, and Liverpool are keen on signing the Bosnian striker and will offer Sterling in exchange.

The England international has informed the Merseyside club that he has no plans on signing an extension on his current two-year deal, meaning the club face a decision on whether to cash in, or lose him on a free.

As of yet, Rodgers has been adamant that the club won’t sell, but as reported earlier, Liverpool would consider offers of around ÂŁ50million for the 20-year-old.

Possible Player-Swap

However, it’s now been reported that they could approach City with an offer regarding a player-swap.

Dzeko would fit Liverpool’s needs, whilst City are desperate for younger, English players due to their ageing squad. The ex-Premier League champions will only have Joe Hart as an English player in their first-team next season, so they are desperate to bring in homegrown players.

It’s not yet understood how much money Liverpool would want as well as Dzeko for the winger, but it’s believed they could ask for around ÂŁ35m plus the striker.
