Liverpool could sell star player for as low as £8.8million
Liverpool could be prepared to sell midfielder Emre Can for as low as Liverpool could sell star player for as low as £9million in January as the German continues to resist signing a new contract.
With his current deal at Anfield set to expire in June 2018, Liverpool face losing Can for free next summer and are now thought to be considering trying to cash in on him in January instead.
However, his contract situation means that his value is low, with the Reds reportedly putting him on the market starting at €10million (£8.8million).
Calciomercato claim that the Reds are still hopeful of convincing Can to stay, but from January he will be free to negotiate with whichever clubs he likes. Juventus and Manchester City are amongst those said to be interested.
Their idea is perhaps to start a bidding war in attempt to push up his value, as in the current market, even with just six months left on his contract this would be a bargain price for a player of his quality.
Can is still only 23, but already has 20 caps for World champions Germany and has been a fixture in the Liverpool midfield since joining from Bayern Munich in 2014.
If Liverpool do sell Can they will need to find a replacement. Find out the Reds’ Top 5 Targets for the January Transfer Window here!
