Scouts impressed with starlet’s performances

Liverpool are set to launch a January bid for Schalke starlet Leroy Sane after a team of scouts were left impressed with his performances.

The teenager was a reported target for Brendan Rodgers over the summer, but instead of making a formal move, he decided to continue scouting him to gain more knowledge about the midfielder.

According to reports in Germany, Liverpool have had scouts watching Schalke games in recent weeks and they’ve given positive feedback to Rodgers amid speculation that a formal bid of around £11.1million could be made.

Sane has scored three goals in his last three Bundesliga games and has been tipped to replace Julian Draxler, who switched to join Wolfsburg over the summer after Kevin De Bruyne joined Manchester City.

Spurs Move Rejected

The 19-year-old was also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, and according to reports, he rejected a move to White Hart Lane after a fee of around £8.5m was agreed.

Sane then signed a two-year extension at Schalke confirming his desires to stay put.

Schalke coach André Breitenreiter believes the teenager is on the right track to becoming a top-player.

“His potential shows Leroy can have a great career ahead of him, he is on the right track,” said Breitenreiter.
