Liverpool have had a £42m offer for Marco Asensio snubbed by Real Madrid, according to reports.
Spanish publication AS claim the Reds have tabled the mammoth bid for the Spanish attacker.
But Real are said to have rejected Liverpool’s approach and have no intention of selling their star.
It is also said that Asensio is happy in Madrid and is not looking to move this summer.
The 21-year-old is seen as a hot prospect at Madrid, with many of the club officials believing he will go on to become a staple in the future of the first team.
Liverpool have actively been seeking out potential new additions for the summer transfer window, and it is no surprise if they are indeed interested in the young Spaniard.
Asensio has appeared 17 times for Real Madrid, scoring 4 goals for the club – and has also been capped by his country on two occasions.
It seems that Real Madrid are not willing to allow the youngster to slip through their clutches, and for Liverpool to pull off any sort of deal they may have to prepare to part ways with a large amount of cash – or perhaps throw a player of theirt own into the deal.
There is every chance Liverpool will return with another big offer – but the more likely option appears to be Liverpool looking elsewhere in preparation for the transfer window.
