Reds launched £10million bid

Liverpool have had an initial £10million bid for Nathaniel Clyne turned down by Southampton.

The Reds are interested in signing the right-back, and want to beat both Manchester United and Chelsea to his signature, but their initial move has been rejected.

Liverpool are in the market for a right-back with Glen Johnson set to leave on a free transfer this Summer, and Clyne is reportedly their number-one target.

Liverpool’s Interest in Clyne

As for Southampton, they are adamant that they won’t sell the England international, and they have already turned down Liverpool’s advanced of a £10m bid.

According to reports, the formal offer was tabled yesterday, but Brendan Rodgers and co. were informed that their offer was not enough to be accepted.

Clyne has one-year left on his current deal, and according to sources, it’s likely that the 24-year-old WON’T sign a contract extension, meaning the club will have to sell this Summer or risk losing him on a free this time next year.

Transfer Talk

However, Southampton have informed Liverpool and other interested parties that they would want at least £12m, which is only £2m more than what Liverpool have already tabled.

Liverpool, United and Chelsea are all expected to have busy Summers, but Clyne is one target they all eye, but it looks like The Reds are in pole position after making the first move.
