Mourinho not convinced on £30m-rated star
Liverpool are set to nip ahead of Manchester United in the race for £30million-rated Southampton star Sadio Mane.
Jurgen Klopp is loving for a pacy addition to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season, and is a big fan of the Southampton winger. His performances in a groundbreaking season for Southampton have attracted attention from both Man United and Liverpool.
It was thought that Manchester United were the favourites to sign him, but new manager Jose Mourinho isn’t completely convinced he wants to spend that sort of money on the player.
And that has led to Liverpool preparing to muscle in on United’s plans with Klopp keen to bring the Senegalese to Anfield.
The report claims the Reds are ready to pay £25m up front plus extras.
Mane netted 15 goals in a season that saw Southampton finish 6th, above Liverpool. He’s under contract at St Mary’s until 2018. Liverpool have history in dealing with Southampton when it comes to transfers with Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren all completing moves to Merseyside in recent years.
