MADRID REJECTED LIVERPOOL’S 1ST BID FOR THE PLAYER

Liverpool have tabled an improved bid of £15 million for out of favour Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

The Reds’s original bid of £10.6 million bid was rejected by Los Blancos, but now sources close to the Madrid club say that they have received a £15 million offer from Liverpool, plus add-ons.

The 25 year old is understood to not to be a part of new Real boss, and former Anfield manager Rafa Benitez’ future plans.

Illarramendi is eager for his future to be resolved before the Madrid players report back for training on July 10th.

The Spanish holding midfielder arrived at the Bernabeu from Real Sociedad for £25 million in 2013.

He enjoyed a good first season, but failed to produce his best form last season, despite making 41 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool are of course looking to fill the gaping hole left by Steven Gerrard’s departure to LA Galaxy.

QPR keen to sign Ilori

In other Liverpool transfer news, relegated QPR are favourites to sign the Reds’ talented centre half Tiago Ilori on loan.

Ilori has attracted interest from a host of Championship clubs, after shining in Portugal’s run to the final of the UEFA Under 21 European Championship.

Rodgers has singled out Ilori as a future star, but does not want to blood the youngster straight into the Premier League.

The 22 year old spent last season on loan at Bordeaux.
