The midfielder could be on his way to Anfield at the end of the season

Liverpool are lining up a move for Ilkay Gundogan, according to reports.

Journalist Artur Petrosyan – who is Sports-Express.ru Editor – has claimed that the Reds are one of three clubs that could launch a bid to sign him at the end of the current campaign.

Juventus and Real Madrid are the other two sides believed to be keen to sign the German international and all three of them could be set to do battle for his signature.

The midfielder has impressed many during his time at Borussia Dortmund and he has been a target of several top sides over the past couple of seasons but he has always stayed loyal to the Bundesliga side.

Stalling on a new deal

However, all that could change in the summer transfer window with the 25-year old having not put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Dortmund despite being offered one. Could that mean he is looking for a move?

If he is, then he will have no shortage of suitors. However, despite thelure of Real Madrid and Juventus, he could very well end up at Anfield.

Liverpool now have Jurgen Klopp in charge, who previously managed Gundogan at Borussia Dortmund and the midfielder could jump at the chance to link up with his old manager again if the club do indeed make a bid for him.
