Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bundesliga side Mainz over the transfer of highly rated goalkeeper Loris Karius, according to reports in Germany.

There has also been speculation growing that the Reds have secured the signing of Udinese star Piotr Zielinski after he was snapped while wearing a Liverpool shirt.

An agreement has been reached between Liverpool and Mainz for promising goalkeeper Karius, claim German news source Kicker.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to drop current keeper Simon Mignolet from his side after a poor season between the posts and make Karius his number one option.

The 22-year-old keeper is one of the hottest prospects in the world after several pundits have tipped him to have a big future with Germany’s national team, having already represented them at Under 21 level.

He signed a contract extension with the German side in January but his representative’s put a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the club for just £7.9million.

Karius had a two-year spell in Manchester City’s Academy as a youngster before moving back to his homeland and has since made over 80 appearances for Mainz.

Liverpool are close to finalising the deal after agreeing personal terms with the player and his representatives.
