Liverpool are desperate to land a replacement for Luis Suarez, and with the new season rapidly approaching, attention has turned to Icardi.
A quick and intelligent forward, the 21-year-old has often been compared to Suarez and the Daily Express says Liverpool are set to make a £16million bid.
Inter had slapped a £28million price tag on Icardi earlier this summer and will try and get the Reds to boost their offer before contemplating doing business.
However, Icardi has previously hinted in the Italian media that he’d like to play in the Premier League and that could prove crucial in forcing through a deal.
