According to reports, Liverpool are prepared to pay Southampton £60M for Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk
The 26-year-old is still recovering from an ankle injury sustained in January but was present for his side’s 0-0 draw with St Gallen in Switzerland on Saturday.
However, other outlets are saying that it is Chelsea that are actually leading the way to sign the player.
Liverpool had lined up a deal for van Dijk, however Southampton want £75million for the former Celtic man and the Blues are said to be happy to pay the asking amount.
With Terry leaving Chelsea at the end of this season Antonio Conte everyone is speculating that the Italian will be looking to reinforce his backline and even though the trio of Cesar Azpilicueta, Luiz and Cahill have been impressive, Chelsea keeping only one clean sheet in their past 12 Premier League games hasn’t been.
But, other reports say Southampton are happy to seal a 60m move with the player giving a little hint when asked if he was moving to Anfield
