Klopp hints further signings could arrive at Anfield

Liverpool have reportedly renewed their interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Mario, after recently seeing a ÂŁ33.5 million bid rejected.

The 23-year-old has rose to prominence in the past season, and helped Portugal to their first major trophy at the European Championships in France this summer.

And those performances have attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including the Reds’ Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, plus Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

While there are obvious national links between United boss Jose Mourinho and Mario, Klopp is desperate to get a deal done for the highly-rated Portuguese and will return with an improved offer.

Klopp recently hinted that further business could be done, saying: “The final word is 31st August. Until then you have to be ready to do something on the selling side or the buying side.

“Maybe one or two things can happen.”

Meanwhile, Mario Balotelli has emerged as a shock target for West Ham, with Liverpool keen to offload the ÂŁ16 million striker who has failed to impress at Anfield, while Napoli and Ajax are also reportedly interested.

But it seems Liverpool’s remaining dealings in the market, aside from Mario, are to offload another unwanted player, in Lazar Markovic.

The Serbia international was shipped out on loan to Fenerbahce last season, and does not feature in Klopp’s plans.
