Liverpool seem likely to reignite their move for promising Colombian forward Luis Muriel this month after talks over his potential move to Sampdoria came to a standstill.
Despite Muriel’s wish to remain in Serie A, Liverpool are reportedly planning to use Mario Balotelli as a bargaining chip in an effort to earn first refusal on their long term attacking target.
Any efforts may be futile, as Muriel himself has come out to say that he is almost certainly joining Sampdoria. Speaking to El Heraldo, Muriel was quoted saying, “Sampdoria are a strong option, we are really close even if we recently also had offers from Liverpool, Southampton, Fiorentina and Milan. I think Sampdoria will be my destination.”
