The Reds have been granted permission to complete the transfer

Liverpool have reportedly been given the go ahead by Real Madrid to sign winger Denis Cheryshev.

The Russian international has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers said to be an admirer of the player.

Cheryshev is valued at ÂŁ22 million

The 24 year old spent the whole of last season on loan at Villareal, where he made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals.

He joined Real Madrid‘s academy at 12 years of age, and made his first appearance for the Madrid B team in the 2008/09 season.

In 2012, he made his first team debut in a Copa Del Rey match, but hasn’t featured for Real since.

Los Blancos were expected to keep hold of the player, but new manager Rafa Benitez has reportedly authorised the sale of Cheryshev to the Spaniard’s former club.

He could be in line to replace Raheem Sterling at Liverpool, who has been linked with a move the other way.
