Liverpool are in the market for a goalkeeper with Stoke City’s Jack Butland identified as their top target.

The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has had an issue with the goalkeeper position since he arrived at Anfield. Klopp initially did not fancy Simon Mignolet and ushered in Loris Karius from Mainz 05.

But Karius did not perform as expected and Mignolet has since been the first choice goalkeeper. But, even Mignolet has been inconsistent.

So now, Bleacher Report state that Liverpool have identified Stoke City’s Jack Butland as their primary target.

Liverpool will have plenty of funds available after the sale of Philippe Coutinho for £142m and Butland is reportedly keen on a Prmeier League switch to a serious title contender.

Stoke would struggle to hold onto the young Englishman as well after the horrid season Stoke has had. They have recently sacked manager Mark Hughes and it seems like Stoke could be in a relegation battle after struggling to win games all season.

Stoke are currently 18th in the league and have only managed five wins all season.

And the Reds feel that Butland, 24, would improve a lot under Jurgen Klopp.

With Virgil Van Dijk, and a new goalkeeper, the Liverpool defence should improve drastically.
