Wilkins gives his opinion
Sky Sports pundit and former Chelsea assistant coach Ray Wilkins believes that Liverpool should buy Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Hart is currently on loan in Italy with Torino, and his days in a Manchester City shirt appear to be over, despite being scheduled to return to the Etihad at the end of the season.
Simon Mignolet is currently the first choice keeper at Anfield but has drawn much criticism for his performances over recent seasons. Klopp’s attempt to fix the situation by buying German keeper Loris Karius wasn’t an instant success, with Karius also making mistakes in his time between the sticks.
Hart showed his quality with a world-class save for England vs Germany on Wednesday, and Wilkins believes that he is the solution for Liverpool,
“If I was Klopp I would certainly be going for him,” Wilkins said. “The save he made last night down to his left hand side was absolutely superb.
“He is obviously a very talented young man and I would like to see him back in England playing in the Premier League.
“Karius would probably stay if they were to bring in a top-quality goalkeeper but Mignolet probably sees himself as a number one so he would have to disappear.”
