Liverpool will have to do battle with Tottenham if they want to sign Jonas Hector, according to German news outlet Express.
The Koln full-back, who has played every minute of Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign so far, has long been linked with Liverpool but talks do not appear to have taken place.
The 26-year-old has long been tipped to leave Koln this summer, with Liverpool and Bundesliga club Wolfsburg reportedly both showing interest.
However, his fine performances in the Euros have reportedly also attracted the attention of Premier League rivals Tottenham, who wish to sign him in order to bolster their defence.
The report by Express says Hector’s fine performances in the Euros may have boosted his market value and the fierce competition could see offers in excess of £17million.
Tottenham have reportedly now made an approach and will look to seal the deal this summer.
when questioned about the abilities of his player, Koln managerPeter Stoeger stated that he always knew that Hector would become a world class star, and that he has the utmost confidence that he can perform on any stage.
“He is now perhaps more in focus, but those who know him always knew in advance that he is a good player,”
Hector, however, will not discuss his future until his involvement in the Euros is complete.
