Liverpool star ruled out for six weeks with Hamstring Injury
Jurgen Klopp has been dealt a huge blow ahead of Saturday’s clash against Manchester United, as it was revealed on Tuesday that Sadio Mane would miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Senegalese star was subbed off in the 87th minute of his country’s 2-0 win over Cape Verde on Saturday, and scans have shown that the injury is worse than first though.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Mane could miss up to six weeks and nine matches as he recovers. He will definitely miss the games against Manchester United on Saturday as well as crucial Champions League matches.
The Reds have already had to cope without Mane for three matches this season after he was sent off in their 5-0 loss to Manchester City last month for a high foot on goalkeeper Ederson.
He also missed a considerable chunk of last season, and both times Liverpool really struggled in his absence. Mane was named player of the season in 2016/17 his debut campaign at Anfield.
The news comes just one day after the former Southampton man was shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or award, along with teammate Phillippe Coutinho.
