The Saints youngster made his Premier League debut earlier this month

Liverpool are on the hunt for yet another Southampton player with Jurgen Klopp said to be interested in left-back Sam McQueen.

The 21-year-old only made his debut earlier this month but, due to the absence of Ryan Bertrand and Matt Targett, the academy graduate has been forced to feature as part of boss Claude Puel’s backline – despite naturally being a winger.

And McQueen has impressed so much that Klopp is keen to make the Saints youngster the sixth player to leave the south coast for Anfield; following in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane.

McQueen has already impressed with Southampton in recent weeks and Klopp is keen to bring him to the north west and do what he has done with so many young players he has worked with so far , by maximising his potential.

Alberto Moreno has had his critics at left-back during his time at Liverpool and has even been pipped to the position by midfielder James Milner in recent weeks – although, illness kept him out of Saturday’s 4-2 win over Crystal Palace.

Ben Chilwell was Klopp’s original left-back target in the summer, however, he refused to meet Leicester’s demands for a player who has yet to establish himself in the Premier League.
