Anfield outfit face a battle with Villarreal for the midfielder
Liverpool will discover next week whether they will be able to sign Real Madrid midfielder, Denis Cheryshev.
The Sun have claimed that Liverpool have made a £15m bid for the Russian international, who has been deemed surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital.
Brendan Rodgers has targeted the 24-year-old as a like-for-like replacement for Raheem Sterling, who signed for Manchester City in a £49m deal.
Recently-appointed Madrid manager, Rafael Benitez, has informed Liverpool that they will learn if they have got their man next week, once Real return from their pre-season tour of China.

While he maybe an unknown quantity to English fans, Cheryshev impressed on loan away from the Bernabeu last season, when he was at Villarreal.
He made 26 appearances in Spain’s top-flight last term, and recently admitted he is unsure where his future lies.
