Liverpool look set to miss out on a loan signing of Thorgan Hazard, after German side Borussia Monchengladbach claim they have a deal done.

Hazard was linked with a move to the Reds on a loan period from Chelsea, after spending the last two years in Belgium.

Thorgan, who is the younger brother of Eden, spent two seasons at Zulte Waregem, and won the Belgium player of the year.

However, Monchengladbach claim they have got the deal done, which will see the 21 year old spend a year in the Bundesliga.

‘We were always going to make an attacking signing, no matter what the situation is with Luuk de Jong and Peniel Mlapa, and this will be Thorgan Hazard,’ sporting director Max Ebert told the Rheinischen Post.

‘We have exchanged contracts with Chelsea and we have agreed with Thorgan, we have all agreed and now just need to sign the contracts.’
