Club announce deal with striker

Liverpool have announced that they will be signing Burnley striker Danny Ings on a free transfer once his current contract expires at Turf Moor.

The England forward had a successful debut campaign in the Premier League but was unable to keep Sean Dyche‘s men in the league as they finished 19th.

The 22-year-old scored 11 goals for his team and will now move to Anfield on July 1, once his contract with Burnley expires.

Ings is Liverpool‘s second signing already after agreeing a deal with Manchester City midfielder James Milner. The English duo will link up with Brendan Rodgers’ side at the beginning of July as they prepare to meet their new team-mates.

Strikers Needed

Liverpool are in desperate need for a goalscorer after their quartet at the moment failed to replace Luis Suarez, who joined FC Barcelona. Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all struggled for goals, whilst Daniel Sturridge couldn’t stay fit.

Ings will be joined also by Divock Origi who spent last year out on loan with French side Lille. However, he was included in the Ligue 1 Worst Team of the Year.

Poor Campaign

Rodgers is still in the market for new players but the two early additions will give him fresh optimism going into the new season after a less than impressive 2014/2015 campaign.

The Reds finished 6th in the league, collapsing four places from last year.
