Liverpool vs Manchester City- Who makes our Combined XI?

The Capital One Cup final is approaching quickly, and is sure to be a close tie between two very capable sides; Liverpool and Manchester City.

Manchester City are currently experiencing a dip in form, with the Sky Blues on a losing streak of four games at the hands of Leicester, Spurs, Chelsea and Dynamo Kyiv- and will be looking to end this run of poor form with a trophy win this weekend. Liverpool are experiencing what can only be described as an ‘inconsistent’ season, as Jurgen Klopp takes the reins in his first cup final with the Merseyside Club.

With these factors in mind, Here is our combined XI for this years Capital one cup final. It is worth noting that players who are unavailable for the match will not be included in the squad.

Goalkeeper: Joe Hart (Man City)

It’s not hard to see why Joe Hart has made it into the squad. The England number one can only be described as ‘special’. Joe Hart’s abilities have earned City 11 clean sheets this season, and guided Manchester City to League champions in both 2012 and 2014, as well as the Capital One Cup of 2014. His acrobatics and ability to pull off amazing saves put him firmly between the sticks for this weekend’s match.

Right Back: Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool)

Another England international takes his spot in right back, as his energy and pace completely overshadows the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, his youthfulness will definitely be appreciated by Liverpool this weekend.

Centre Back: Nicolas Otamendi (Man City)

The Argentine was captured by City this summer, and has been a regular fixture in their lineup. He is aggressive, pacy, and committed- everything that a Premier league centre back should be.

Centre Back: Vincent Kompany (Man City)

The big Belgian man himself has to be included in this lineup- as his leadership qualities and fantastic defending skills have arguably lifted Manchester City to the great heights that they are at today. It is clear to see that without Kompany, City are more than prone to leaking goals.

Left Back: Alberto Moreno (Liverpool)

Manchester city have been lacking a cutting edge at left back, as Aleksander Kolarov seems to have gone off the boil as of late and Gael Clichy seeming to have nothing in his locker than pace. This gives the Spanish Liverpool left back the perfect opportunity to slot into our squad.

Right Midfield: James Milner (Liverpool)

James Milner is arguably one of the unsung heroes of the Premier League. He provides much stability to a midfield setup, and will be vital to Liverpool’s game this weekend.

Central Midfield: Yaya Toure (Man City)

Though the Ivorian seems to be lacking form this season, it cannot be denied that he has talent, and will no doubt perform well on the day.

Centre Midfield: Phillipe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Coutinho is an absolutely outstanding player and a nightmare for any defence to deal with. He will be VITAL to Liverpool’s game tomorrow undoubtedly, as his fantastic skill can be the difference between a win and a loss for the club.

Left midfield: Raheem Sterling (Man City)

There is a massive risk that the exciting England youngster can come back to haunt his former club this weekend, he has skill in abundance and is very attractive to watch.

Centre Forward: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

As of late, Firmino has been an asset to Liverpool, providing many a performance that the Merseyside club would be proud of- he could prove to be a pest to the Manchester City defence.

Striker: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

It had to be. There is no man that could lead the front line other than the frankly brilliant Argentine, Sergio Aguero. He is an asset to any team he plays in, and GUARANTEES goals. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him net this weekend.
