What a moment for him!
Liverpool young star Ben Woodburn is set to be called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time next week.
He has only made seven senior appearances for Liverpool, scoring just one goal, and he is yet to start in a Premier League match, but he seems set for an international cap next week when Wales play Republic of Ireland in a crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Woodburn is eligible to play for both Wales and England at the moment and, while it is unlikely he will feature for the Three Lions in the near future, Wales are believed to be considering a first senior call-up for the Liverpool forward.
Wales manager Chris Coleman names his squad for the Republic of Ireland match on Thursday, and his assistant Osian Roberts says Woodburn is “knocking on the door” for selection for the games on the horizon.
