Striker sends warning to Jose Mourinho ahead of new season

Chelsea striker Loic Remy has sent a warning to Jose Mourinho by claiming he wants a regular role in the first-team.

The Frenchman arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer after agreeing to leave Queens Park Rangers in a deal worth ÂŁ8million.

Remy Back-up Option

However, Remy also arrived as Diego Costa and Didier Drogba did, pushing him down to a back-up option.

Throughout the title-winning campaign last year, Remy made just six Premier League starts, with the majority of them coming near the end of the season when the title was already won and Costa was out injured.

Remy’s first-team status could be even further damaged with the arrival of Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan from AS Monaco, but the Frenchman has told Mourinho he wants regular first-team football this season.

Remy Eyes Starting Spot

“I want to bring everything I can to the team and I just want to do more as I think this season will be more difficult than the previous one,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“So, all the players must be better than last season and I just want to be better, play more and score more.”

The 28-year-old was linked with a move away from The Bridge, with Crystal Palace and Newcastle United reportedly keen. Mourinho has since ruled out any possible move however for the striker.
