Defender finally ready to quit Anfield

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is thought to have finally accepted his situation at the club, and is ready to quit Anfield.

The Frenchman has been exiled by manager Jurgen Klopp after a list of controversial incidents, included being wrongly banned for taking a banned substance, being sent home from the team’s USA tour, and a outburst about his situation on social media platform, Snapchat.

He rejected a move to Stoke at the end of the summer window, after vowing to fight for his place under the German coach.

Lille are interested, but Sakho’s £100,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block and Liverpool would have to heavily subsidise the loan move.

Klopp banished Sakho to train with the Under-23s and the centre-half has finally accepted there is no way back for him under the German.

Sakho, who signed a five-year deal at Anfield just prior to Klopp’s arrival, has not played for Liverpool since scoring in the 4-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton in April.
