Liverpool offer centre-back long-term deal

Liverpool Football Club have reportedly offered Mamadou Sakho a five-year deal in order to fend off interest from other clubs.

The Frenchman’s future is far from certain as it stands, with Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma already have approaches for a season-long loan deal turned down by Brendan Rodgers.

Sakho hasn’t featured in either of the opening two games for Liverpool, leaving doubt surrounding his long-term future.

New Deal

However, according to reports, The Reds are ready to end all speculation by offering him a new and improved five-year deal.

The 25-year-old still has two years left on his current deal, but Rodgers and officials at Anfield want to tie his long-term future down to the club, meaning he could be under contract until 2020.

Sakho has recently fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, with Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel being the preferred centre-back pairing.
