Pep Guardiola fancies a reunion with the Barcelona player at the Etihad Stadium

Man City are considering a move for Sergio Busquets according to reports today.

The midfielder has become a key player for current club Barcelona, with his play in the centre of the field for the Spanish giants helping his side massively in both domestic competition and in Europe.

Worked with Busquets at Barcelona

It’s his showings for the Catalan side that have caught the eye of Pep Guardiola, who formerly worked with the player back when he was in charge at the Camp Nou.

Guardiola clearly wants to Busquets to rejoin him at the Etihad Stadium and help boost his side’s chances of Premier League glory this season.

The club have already splashed the cash so far this summer, with the signings of Bernardo Silva from Monaco, Kyle Walker from Tottenham and Danilo from Real Madrid and they’ll want to boost their side as much as possible to be in with a chance of glory in the league and potentially in Europe as well.

Busquets wouldn’t be cheap, with Barca unwilling to sell a player who has become such an important asset to them. In today’s market, the midfielder could cost upwards of £50m.

However, it’s money that Man City certainly do have and the player would be a worthwhile investment. Barca themselves would have the funds to try and find a suitable replacement, so if the right offer came in, they could be tempted to let him leave.
