The left-back last played for the Red Devils against Wigan in the FA Cup

Jose Mourinho is set to leave Luke Shaw out of his Europa League squad for the game against St Etienne tomorrow.

According to reports, the left-back is unlikely to be a part of the 18-man squad that will be a part of the club’s Europa League game tomorrow. Not only is he unlikely to be in the starting eleven but he might not even feature on the bench.

The last time Shaw featured for the club was against Wigan in the FA Cup and although he managed to help his side claim a clean sheet that day, he has failed to play a part for the side since.

The England international has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons and it has led to the player not featuring as much as he would like.

Mourinho impressed with current defence

In his absence, other players like Daley Blind have stepped in and taken his place in the team and once again, Mourinho is likely to stick with the Netherlands man.

Blind featured at the weekend in United’s 2-0 win over Watford and he is clearly impressing Jose Mourinho who has claimed he is happy with his current back four.

It’s likely that same back four will feature against St Etienne, leaving Shaw out of action again.

The 21-year old will be desperate to fight his way back into the side and he may have his chance to in the FA Cup again.

Man United play Blackburn at the weekend and Mourinho may prefer to play Shaw over Blind in the cup match to give him a chance to claw his way back into the side and give his current back four a rest.
