Hoffenheim midfielder set for Old Trafford?

Manchester United have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim for midfielder Roberto Firmino, despite heavy interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

United have agreed ÂŁ13.1million transfer fee for the Brazil international who is preparing for the Copa America with his national side, according to talkSPORT.

Firmino Impresses

The 23-year-old was Hoffenheim’s star player last season, with scoring 10 goals and proving 12 assists for the club who finished 8th in the German Bundesliga.

His impressive form led him to be called up to the Brazil national squad in October and has earned six caps and scored three goals since then.

Firmino signed a contract extension with the club in March to keep him at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena until 2017 but as the club failed to qualify for any European competitions next season, meaning he is set to leave.

The attacking midfielder has attracted a lot of interest from a range of Champions League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool as they both look to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window.

However, the Red Devils are now favourites to sign the Brazilian after agreeing a deal with Hoffenheim.

LVG’s Business

If the transfer is finalised, Firmino would become Louis van Gaal’s second summer signing following the £25million arrival of Netherlands international Memphis Depay.

Van Gaal is also closely monitoring Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan and highly rated Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
