Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly set to do battle in the transfer market this summer over Porto left-back Alex Sandro.

The Brazilian defender, 23, has emerged as David Moyes No.1 pick to replace Patrice Evra, whose contract expires at Old Trafford this summer.

But according to TalkSPORT, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also preparing to make a move for the former Santos man. Mourinho has largely used right-back Cesar Azpilicueta out of position on the left this term, with the Spaniard having kept Ashley Cole on the sidelines for the majority of the campaign, though while Luke Shaw has often been recognized as a Chelsea target, Sandro is their cheaper alternative- somewhere in the region of ÂŁ15million.

Sandro has starred since he arrived at Porto, winning the league twice with the Portuguese club.
