David de Gea is set to be offered a massive deal by Manchester United to retain his services and keep potential competitors at bay.
United have the option of extending De Gea’s stay at Old Trafford by 12 months, after he goes out of contract in the summer of 2019.
According to a report in The Sun, the club is scheduling talks with the 27-year-old to bump his fees up from £210,000-a-week terms to £300,000-a-week, which will put him on par with Paul Pogba.
A source close to the club said: “The club are finally going to kick-start contract talks with David very soon. There were hints of talks in the summer but formal discussions had not yet started, it was just a matter of time. There is no problem and the money men are committed to tying him down for the long-term”.
The club is aiming for a new five-year contract for the ex-Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, who has been linked to a move to Real Madrid for close to three years now.
