It’s club vs country for young star

Manchester United are facing a battle with the FA over young star Marcus Rashford, according to reports.

Since bursting onto the scene with United in February, Rashford has gone from strength to strength in his short career, scoring goals and getting starts in the side.

And his form has led him to become an England international and a spot in the squad for Euro 2016.

But according to The Times, now the FA ‘will demand’ that he features for the under-21s in the European Championships next summer.

Rashford has made one appearance for the junior team, scoring a hattrick against Norway.

But the report says the FA feel his five senior caps mean he would still benefit from playing with the younger age category.

Rashford is likely to play an massive part in United’s team this season, having already started the last four league games.

The FA have struggled in the past to force Premier League clubs to release their young stars for summer competitions if they have already broken into the senior team, but the battle will be on here as they try and get United to cave.
