Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on new signing Alexis Sanchez after debuting for the club in their FA Cup 4-0 victory over Yeovil Town.

Alexis Sanchez started for the Red Devils in his first match as a United player and it’s fair to say he had a decent game.

And while Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku all scored to make it 4-0 over the League two side, Alexis Sanchez’s impact was immediate and immense.

The Chilean star made two assists and was named man of the match in an impressive display. He made things tick for United and installed some creative flair that they have missed this season.

Speaking after the match Mourinho praised Sanchez: “He’s a fantastic addition. Everyone is happy he comes – good players want to play with good players.

‘He’s a fantastic player for us. The question is always where is he going to play? It’s not about that for us, it’s about our fantastic group of players.”

Mourinho then compared Sanchez, albeit somewhat cruelly, to Marcus Rashford by stating how Sanchez is a step above Rashford’s decision making in games.

He said: “He [Sanchez] has a bit more maturity and experience. His choice for the counter-attack [United’s second goal] is the kind of choice that Marcus [Rashford] is still too nervous to make.”

Mourinho added, “He will bring us this extra maturity and class – we are really pleased with him. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy for him but I’m happy with his performance.’
