United source confirmed interest in the striker

Manchester United are set to launch a formal bid for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, thought to be in the region of £40million.

A United source revealed earlier this week that there was interest in the England international, but as of yet, nothing formal has been discussed.

However, it’s now believed United are ready to make their first move by offering Spurs £40m for the breakthrough talent.

Kane’s Emergence

The 21-year-old burst onto the scene at White Hart Lane this season after a string of good performances in the Europa League. After calls to start him in the Premier League from the fans, Mauricio Pochettino eventually gave him a chance.

Kane went on to score 31 goals in all competitions and kept both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado out of the first-team in North London.

United’s Interest

However, after his stunning debut season, he has raised eyebrows from Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United, who are keen on signing a new striker after Radamel Falcao left the club after his loan expired.

The Red Devils are ready to make a £40m offer to Tottenham, but it’s believed that bid will be rejected as Daniel Levy eyes around £50m for the striker.

Kane signed a new long-term deal at the club back in February, meaning his price-tag will be naturally higher.

Money Talks

Despite the interest from United, Kane is reportedly happy at White Hart Lane and is not looking for a transfer away, but with United having around £200m in their treasure chest, they could persuade Spurs to sell.

According to reports, United are also prepared to offer Kane a contract worth £150k-a-week, triple what he’s currently earning.
