Manchester United have sent scouts to Germany in order to watch Schalke playmaker, Julian Draxler.

The German midfielder has been wanted by Arsenal and also Chelsea for a long period of time, with The Gunners close to signing him back in January, only for the deal to collapse due to difference in valuations of the player.

At the time, Schalke wanted ÂŁ37million for the wonderkid, but Arsenal were only prepared to part ways with ÂŁ32m, which they eventually spent on Alexis Sanchez in the Summer.

After missing out on the 21-year-old, it was reported that they’d try again in the pre-season window, but nothing materialised leaving Draxler in Germany with Schalke.

However, according to recent reports, scouts from Old Trafford have been sent to watch him in action as they consider making a move for him in the New Year.

The reports have suggested that scouts have already been and watched a few Schalke games, scouting not only Draxler, but defender, Benedikt Howedes, as well.

The 26-year-old can play at centre-back as well as defensive-midfield, and according to Bild, United could make a ÂŁ14m bid in January, whilst also meeting Draxler’s ÂŁ37m release clause.
