Manchester United set for £90million raid on Barcelona pair
Manchester United are prepared to offer £90million to bring two of Barcelona’s star players to Old Trafford, according to reports in the Spanish press this week.
Don Balon says that the Red Devils are looking to strengthen their squad in the new year, and have identified Samuel Umtiti and Sergi Roberto as two of their top targets.
Both players have featured heavily for Ernesto Valverde’s team this season and will be hard to prize away, but United are willing to pay up to £90million to bring them to the club if reports are to be believed.
Umtiti in particular has earned rave reviews for his performances since joining Barca from Lyon in 2016. Regular watchers regard him as one of the best centre-backs in the world.
Roberto on the other hand is a solid squad player capable of playing in a number of positions. Tactically intelligent, he is the type of player that you could see thriving under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.
Both players would be cup-tied for the Champions League if they were to move to Old Trafford. United will play Sevilla in the last, whereas Barca were drawn against Chelsea.
