Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez has reportedly turned down a winter move to Manchester United, instead opting to join La Liga outfit Valencia in the summer.
A four year deal is reported to have been agreed after Valencia agreed to let Perez go for £20m rather than holding out for the £23m quoted in his release clause.
This is a second blow in as many days, with long-term target Kevin Strootman reportedly admitting his desire to join either of La Liga’s two giants – Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Van Gaal will have to pursue other targets with Perez and Strootman now seemingly seeking moves elsewhere of Old Trafford.
