Manchester United are on the brink of signing Athletic Bilbao defender, Aymeric Laporte, ahead of rivals, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Laporte is one of France’s highly-rated starlets breaking into the national first-team, alongside Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and his consistent performances for his club in La Liga have caught the eyes of many potential suitors.
The 20-year-old has recently broken into Bilbao’s first-team and has been scouted by three of England’s biggest clubs ahead of this transfer window.
United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with the centre-back, but according to reports, it’s Louis Van Gaal who has won the race to his signature.
It’s believed United have offered £25million to sign the French international and it’s stated that Laporte is ready to leave and join the English club.
