Manchester United have shown an interest in signing former Chelsea starlet Bertrand Traore from Olympique Lyonnais, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho knows Traore well. He spent seven years at Stamford Bridge as a youth player, and rejected United to join the Blues back in 2010. Last summer he left to join Lyon in an ÂŁ8.8million deal.

The 22 year-old – who already has 42 caps for the Burkina Faso national team – spoke about the rumours in Onze Mundial recently, and refused to move out a move to Old Trafford.

“Manchester United? Why not? I will work hard and if opportunities open, why not?” he said.

Traore previously spent three years in Holland, two on loan at Vitesse and last season at Ajax, where he impressed enough to earn a move to the Ligue 1 club.

In between, he featured sparingly for Mourinho during Chelsea’s 2015/16 season, scoring two Premier League goals from 10 appearances.

United are looking for more attacking options to strengthen their squad, as they prepare to challenge for four competitions this season. If Traore comes then he will be eligible to play in the Champions League as Lyon are in the Europa this season.
