Manchester United’s 21-year-old defender Demetri Mitchell has been sent to Scottish club Hearts on loan.
Part of the U-17 squad that won the European Championship back in 2014, was handed his debut by Jose Mourinho last year.
He’s part of Hearts boss Craig Levein’s plans of acquiring new recruits to bolster the squad in the transfer window.
“I’d hope to have a couple in, maybe three. We don’t have trialists organised at this moment but you can never rule anything out.
“The positions we need to strengthen are still the same. We aren’t bringing any young ones in for the future in this window — it needs to be people who can help us now,” Levein had earlier said.
The side has been plagued with problems in the left-back role, with Ashley Smith-Brown, who arrived at the club on loan from Manchester City, suffering from multiple injuries. With no options left, Levein has tried out Michael Smith, Jamie Brandon and Daniel Baur at the spot.
