Manchester United have begun initial talks with West Ham defender Reece Oxford in the summer transfer window, claim several reports in England.

The England U19 international made his debut right at the beginning of the campaign for the Hammers and has made 12 appearances in all competitions so far for Slaven Bilic’s side.

ESPN FC suggest that United have made contact with Oxford’s agent and representatives recently ahead of a summer transfer.

The Red Devils are willing to pay in excess of £10million for the 17-year-old who has been tipped as the next ‘Rio Ferdinand’ by pundits and players alike.

Neighbours Manchester City are also monitoring the teenager and are poised to make an offer if West Ham want to cash in on the rising star.
