United to hijack Chelsea’s move?

Manchester United have targeted Everton defender John Stones, after it emerged that the Toffees rejected a £26m bid from Chelsea for the youngster.

Chelsea have had their second offer for the 21-year-old turned down by Everton, who are only willing to part ways with Stones for no less than £30m.

Manager Jose Mourinho views the  highly-rated England international as an ideal long-term replacement for John Terry, who at 34-years-old, is entering the autumn of an illustrious playing career.

Red Devils Interest

Upon hearing the news that Everton have decided to reject the West Londoners bid, Manchester United have turned their attentions to the player.

Stones, who signed for Everton  in a £3m deal from Barnsley in January 2013 – has four years left to run on his current deal at Goodison Park, and has insisted that he is happy at Roberto Martinez‘s side.

United have not yet made a formal approach for Stones, but have alerted the advisers of the player that he would be a welcomed addition to the club’s ranks, should he make the move to the Red Devils.
