Goalkeeper set to be released from Old Trafford nightmare

Manchester United are ready to terminate Victor Valdes’ contract at the club, ending his 12-month nightmare at Old Trafford.

The Spanish goalkeeper arrived at United as a free agent, following his release from FC Barcelona, but after failing to displace David De Gea as the number-one ‘keeper, he was asked to play for the reserves to get game-time.

Although he played a few games for them, Valdes then refused to play for them during pre-season, which lead to a massive bust-up with manager Louis van Gaal.

Excluded from the Squad

Since then, Van Gaal has excluded Valdes from the first-team squad, and by doing so, he’s all but forced him out of the club.

The veteran hasn’t got a kit number or a club suit, and has also been banned from the Carrington training ground whilst first-team members are present.

Reports in Spain are suggesting United officials are ready to release Valdes and terminate his deal immediately just so they can get him off their books and out of the club.
