Aston Villa striker could be on his way out of Villa Park

Manchester United are ready to make a £25million bid for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgium international has re-found his form of last season in recent weeks, scoring eight goals in just six games, and his resurgence under Tim Sherwood has boosted Villa’s survival chances in the Premier League.

As Villa prepare for their FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley against Liverpool, Sherwood stated that he would not stand in the way of Benteke if he did choose to leave Villa Park this Summer, and those comments have clearly sparked interest in the striker.

The 24-year-old arrived in England after moving from Genk and United are now prepared to offer Villa around £25m for the Belgium star.

Strikers needed at Old Trafford

Louis Van Gaal has made it clear that strikers are what he wants at the end of the season with Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie both expected to leave Old Trafford over the Summer.

Falcao will return to AS Monaco after his loan expires and Van Persie could be sold after an injury-hit campaign.

United have been strongly linked with numerous strikers, including Edinson Cavani and Danny Ings, but the latest reports are claiming that Benteke could be another option.
