Atletico Madrid striker is set for Summer move

Manchester United are showing interest in Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic, according to reports in Spain.

The Croatian front-man has had a major fall-out with Diego Simeone and are reportedly at breaking point in their relationship, meaning the striker is set to be sold as a result.

Mandzukic has attracted interest from across Europe, but it looks like United could be front-runners as they look to add a top-class striker to their ranks.

United’s Quest for a Striker

Louis Van Gaal has already lost Radamel Falcao after terminating his loan and refusing to make it a permanent deal, and they also look set to sell Robin Van Persie after an injury-plagued season.

This would leave The Red Devils with just one recognised striker in Wayne Rooney, meaning the club will have to fork out money to sign someone.

The club have been linked with Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain and Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, but the latest reports have them linked with Mandzukic after the fall-out with Simeone.

Mandzukic Interest

The 29-year-old, who used to play for Bayern Munich, has netted 20 goals in 37 games last season for Atletico and is reportedly valued around ÂŁ36million.

United do have the funds to spend as reports claim they could be set for another spending spree over the Summer with Van Persie claiming they are prepared to spend around ÂŁ200m.

One-in/One-out

If Mandzukic does arrive at Old Trafford, it could see Van Persie leave for Serie A, with Juventus reportedly keen.
