Mata is going nowhere, reveals Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that midfielder Juan Mata will not be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer despite the Spaniard falling out of favour at the club.

The former-Valencia midfielder has been superb for Chelsea the last two years and was the club’s player of the season last campaign, but since Mourinho’s arrival, Mata has been linked with a move away to Manchester United and even Tottenham.

Mourinho has been busy in the transfer window, already signing two attacking-midfield players, and it now looks like he is set to add Willian to the ranks at Stamford Bridge, which could further damage Mata’s chances of playing first-team.

The Spanish international was an unused substitute for the Manchester United game on Monday, but after the game, Mourinho revealed that he is not thinking of selling the midfielder.

“He is very important for me and very important for Chelsea,” said Mourinho.

“The stories that are coming out are nonsense stories. He goes nowhere.”
