Winger should be joining AS Roma on season-long loan

Chelsea and AS Roma have reached an agreement for Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah.

The 23-year-old is due to arrive in Italy later today in order to complete a medical and sign the important paperwork ahead of a proposed season-long loan switch.

Salah spent half of last season out on loan with Fiorentina, but decided not to return to the club despite the interest and the agreement in the contract.

Fiorentina Breakdown

Fiorentina and Chelsea agreed that if a permanent deal wasn’t met, they could have him on loan for the following season.

However, Salah himself rejected a move to Viola and instructed his agent to work a move to Roma instead.

The Serie A side will pay The Blues ÂŁ1.4million for the loan, and could make it a permanent switch next summer for ÂŁ14m.

Salah’s representative Ramy Abbas revealed on Twitter that his client is set to fly out to Italy, as he tweeted: “Salah arrives in Rome tomorrow.”

Mourinho Confirms Move

Jose Mourinho confirmed earlier in the week that the winger wouldn’t be staying at Stamford Bridge because ‘he doesn’t belong in the squad.’

The Chelsea boss said: “He doesn’t belong to my squad and he’s not staying here.

“The important thing is that he plays like he did at Fiorentina, so [I’m] happy with him going on a loan.

“Italian football is difficult football to play, especially for attacking players. So if it’s not Fiorentina it’s Roma or Inter or Juve – I don’t know. Maybe he has a loan.

“He’s a good boy and a good player. He needs more top-level football so I’m happy with any decision him and the club make.”
