Jose Mourinho could end up back at Real Madrid next season if a deal to take him to Old Trafford falls through

Ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has revealed that Jose Mourinho could be back at Real Madrid next season if a deal to appoint him Man United manager fails.

The Special One has had a previous stint as boss at the Santiago Bernabeu and it lasted for three years from 2010 to 2013. He managed to claim three trophies during his time there, including La Liga, but after failing to deliver in the Champions League, he left the club.

He went on to manage Chelsea again but after a horrendous season this year, he was sacked by the Blues and is on the lookout for his next job. That job is believed to be the managerial position at Man United, with reports claiming he will replace Louis Van Gaal at the end of the season.

United yet to make formal approach

The Red Devils though have yet to make a formal approach for Mourinho and with no deal yet agreed to take the Special One to Old Trafford, Ex-Real Madrid president Calderon believes he could be back in Spain next season.

He claimed: “If Mourinho doesn’t sign for Manchester United, he will be Real Madrid’s next coach.

“I am completely sure of that. If the team doesn’t win anything, sadly, we’ll be seeing Mourinho on the bench again. That’s my feeling. Florentino is going nuts to see Mourinho back at the club.

“If things don’t go well, Zidane won’t continue”

Man United will therefore want to tie up a deal quickly for the coach, otherwise they could lose him to Real Madrid.
