Chelsea hope to tie the Portugese manager to a new deal

Blues owner Roman Abramovich will reward Mourinho after he guided Chelsea to the Premier League title on Sunday.

Mourinho’s current deal already sees him net around £8.5M a season; the highest paid manager in the whole of the Premier League.

Reports emerged from the Evening Standard that although there has been no formal agreement between the two parties, contract talks are nearing a conclusion.

The London-based newspaper also went on to claim that the Chelsea manager is due to be given a pay rise.

Mourinho here to stay

Chelsea recorded a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace at the weekend, securing the Premier League crown, with the nearest challengers 13 points behind the champions.

The former Porto, Inter and Real Madrid managed the Blues previously from 2004-07, winning back-to back Premier League titles and securing Chelsea’s first top flight success in 50 years.

The Blues manager insisted he was “here to stay” and is keen to remain at one club, instead of jumping between sides in pursuit of his personal goals.

Mourinho is halfway through a four year deal which he signed on his return to Stamford Bridge back in June 2013.

Jose targets Sir Alex Ferguson’s record

In his second stint Mourinho admitted his plans were completely different to when he last managed the Blues, expressing his desire to replicate what Ferguson had left at Manchester United.

Mourinho described Sir Alex’s 13 Premier League titles “impossible” to match however the two-time Champions League winner is committed to improving Chelsea’s chances on the European stage.

His first tenure at Chelsea came to an end after a clash of egos between him and the Russian billionaire owner, Abramovich.

Now their working relationship is vastly improved, with Abramovich seemingly more engaged with Chelsea than ever before. The next day he was spotted watching the under 21 team in action.
